NOTABLE INFORMATION
Pre-Kinder Visit to Alpes 605
Dear Pre-Kinder families,
This year, we’ve decided to create a more meaningful and close transition experience for our students and their families.
Instead of just having students visit their new campus like we’ve done in previous years, we’re opening our doors to their families as well. The goal is for you to see the spaces, meet some of our teaching staff, and better understand the path to Preschool.
Logistics:
Thursday, June 25, at 8:00 p.m.
Information session on Teams for Pre-Kinder parents, where we will discuss the transition process and expected learning outcomes of our Preschool.
Click here to join the session.
Friday, June 26
Open Doors at Alpes 605
All Pre-Kinder students starting at Alpes 605 next year and their families are invited to visit.
Schedule
9:00-9:15 a.m.: welcome and morning line-up
9:15-9:20 a.m.: getting into groups for the tour
9:30-10:30 a.m.: campus tour and meet-and-greet with teachers
10:30-11:00 a.m.: Q&A and farewell
Families who are unable to attend can call 55-5520-0410 to sign up for a in-person tour on one of our three available dates.
Families whose children will be starting at the Santa Fe campus in the fall are invited to meet the teachers and fellow families at the Toddler Center on Friday, June 26 at 9:00 a.m.
Unfortunately, we are unable to visit the new Santa Fe building at this time, as they are still finishing up some details so the space can be ready with the care and attention you deserve. Once it’s done, we’ll be happy to have you come tour the facilities and experience it first hand.
Explore, Discover, Grow
New experiences are important for children’s learning because they encourage curiosity, exploration, and understanding of the world. We believe children are capable learners who grow through hands-on activities, relationships, and discovery.
At school, we intentionally create opportunities for children to investigate new ideas, materials, routines, and environments. These experiences strengthen not only cognitive development, but also confidence, communication, resilience, and emotional security.
We also know that every child handles change in their own way. Some adjust quickly, while others need more time and support to feel comfortable. Talking about what will happen, reviewing routines, and having meaningful conversations can help ease worries and build confidence.
Younger children especially benefit from simple and timely preparation. When they feel supported, new experiences can become chances for joyful discovery, independence, and growth.
By honoring each child’s pace, we help them approach the world with curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Wondering About the Sky
A change in the sky became an opportunity for inquiry and imagination this week. After recess, the children noticed that the sunny morning had suddenly turned cloudy, so they started to wonder where the sun was.
Some children suggested the sun had gone away, while others said it was “playing hide and seek with the clouds.” They explained that it could not be nighttime because “the moon isn’t out.” The following morning, when the sun reappeared, the children happily announced, “It came back today!”
Through this shared conversation, the children engaged in observation, theory building, and collaborative thinking as they worked together to make sense of the world around them. Their ideas revealed not only emerging scientific thinking, but also imagination, symbolic language, and the joy of learning through dialogue and discovery.
This experience continues to invite meaningful questions: Where does the sun go? Is it always there, even when we can’t see it?
Moments of Connection and Discovery
Everyday moments become meaningful opportunities for learning when we open spaces for connection, collaboration, and exchange.
Each Friday, at Alpes 605, our children, families, and teachers come together to exchange World Cup stickers, creating a joyful experience that goes beyond collecting. Through this activity, children strengthen number recognition, practice the meaning of exchange, and learn from the kindness and collaboration modeled by the adults around them.
These shared moments remind us that learning is alive in the everyday happenings of our school community.
